ABOUT

About

Named for a strong, sweet wild apple cider brewed in the Hoang Lien Son mountains of Northern Vietnam where the ensemble formed, Táo Mèo plays music derived from the Balkan musical world, where evocative melodies and inventive rhythmic approaches converge — a strange but natural journey from the members’ backgrounds as audiophiles and performers of melodramatic folk opera, western and Vietnamese classical, experimental electronica and even jazz, punk and metal, always with motion towards the emotive element, irrespective of genre.
